Sid Meier, Please Bring Civilization Back To Consoles (OPEN LETTER)

Dear Mr. Meier,

In 2008, you brought Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution to consoles. This was the first Civilization game you had ever brought to consoles and at the time you were quoted as saying “This is the game I’ve always wanted to make.” While some folks knocked the game for not being as “deep” as the PC versions, overall the game received rave reviews from the major gaming outlets. Personally, I loved the game and was grateful that one of the best turn-based strategy simulations in history had finally come to a platform that I play on. In fact, it’s the only game that I have purchased in the last three years that I STILL own. I can whip out Civilization Revolution anytime and have a good time and hours of fun.

Since then you have gone on to release Civilization IV on PC, Civilization V on PC, and most recently Civilization World on Facebook. While I understand you releasing games on all these platforms, for the life of me I can’t understand why you haven’t brought another Civilization game back to consoles in the last 3 years. As far as I understand the sales of Civilization Revolution were solid, perhaps not as good as the PC versions but more than solid enough to warrant another game.

I don’t think I am in the minority in terms of console players who feel like this. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have any problem plopping down $59.99 for Civilization Revolution 2 in a heartbeat. So I know you are a busy guy and all but if you get a second I hope that you will give it a thought and maybe decide it’s a good idea. If it’s never going to happen though, then could you put us out of our misery so we can stop wishing in vain for something that will never happen.

Thanks,

Patiently Waiting For Another Civilization Game On Consoles
