Rioting and looting has now been spreading throughout the UK since Saturday, and amongst the shopkeepers, bystanders and homeowners already effected by the carnage you can now add Sony to the list.
Late on Monday night GMT, a Sony warehouse was set ablaze by rioting youths in Enfield, North London. It is possible the yobs were frustrated at not being to gain access and add the DVDs, CD’s and games stored in the building to their booty of pilfered goods and therefore decided to burn it down, but regardless the damage and loss of stock is expected to be intense. A spokesman for Sony confirmed that it was likely that deliveries will be impacted although at this time we don’t know whether hardware was also being stored in the building.
If you haven’t been following events that started Saturday as a peaceful protest about the shooting of a London man by police has escalated into looting and criminality in the streets of most large cities in the country, as youths decide they want some free stuff. Why can’t we all just play video games and get along?
