PlayStation Vita Out In Europe And US ‘Early Next Year’

Sony has confirmed that its latest attempt at the hand-held console market, the PlayStation Vita, will fly onto European and American store shelves “early next” but our Japanese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese cousins will get their hands on the device by the end of the year. This news was backed up by Sony executive Kaz Hirai who said that the difference in the release dates should not be considered as a delay but something necessary in order to ensure that Sony is prepared with solid game software offerings which are tied in with the hardware launches.

The PlayStation Vita is the follow up to Sony's previous handheld console, the PSP

Kaz Hirai was very clear about one thing which was that a price cut of the Vita will not happen despite the fact that Nintendo has recently slashed the price of the 3DS.

“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable. There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price”, said Hirai.

So a slightly longer wait for the PlayStation Vita then we were hoping for but I’m sure that it will be worth the wait. What are your opinions on the Vita? Are you planning on getting one at all? Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
