So we have known for a while that Bane would be making a return appearance to the franchise in Batman: Arkham City but what we didn’t know until now is that he will be a playable character this time around. Ignoring the fact that Bane has been portrayed in most recent incarnations as a crazed and mindless beast, those that know the actual story understand that Bane has always been quite conflicted and quite the intellectual. We don’t know the full extent of what you will be able to do with Bane but we do know that he will now team up with Batman for a series of sub-missions that involve tracking down shipments of chemical contraband. What Bane’s true motives are we will have to wait just a little while longer to see.
The news on Bane came courtesy of the Batman: Arkham City Comic-Con panel and it also revealed a few other tid bits. Batman is getting a bunch of new weapons, but they pointed out one called the Remote Electrical Charge (REC) in particular. The REC is a shotgun variation that shoots out a rapid electrical spark that knocks enemies back and electrocutes those pesky armored enemies. It can also be used to charge up certain machines as well as help transform metal scraps into magnets, for what purpose we don’t know yet.
They confirmed that the game will feature around 4 hours worth of gameplay with Catwoman as the main character if you choose to explore that story arc. If they have 4 hours worth of just Catwoman gameplay then it comes as no surprise when they confirmed that the main storyline is much bigger than in Arkham Asylum. The final bit of info relates to side quest, this time around if you fail a side quest you can return to it later once you have acquired better items and weapons. So that’s all we got, but before you go check out these latest set of screenshots.
