OpenTable Wants To Take 30% Off Your Meal, But There’s A Catch

It seems like everyone is getting into the group discount business. This time around it’s OpenTable, which seats more than seven million diners every month, partnering up with a company called Savored. Group buying hasn’t really taken off at a lot of the better restaurants because they are terrified of what it will do their bottom line if they start giving out $50 for $25 deals like we are used to seeing. The OpenTable/Savored offer is a little different.

Savored will give you 30% off your dinner but you have to pay $10 upfront and you have to book a reservation during pre-determined times. It looks like it should work out for everybody, you get to get a standard 30% taken off whatever your meal cost is and they get to fill up their restaurant during times it would normally be dead, a win-win right?

The program has already started running in the San Francisco Bay Area homepage of OpenTable and should be expanding to other U.S. markets in the near future.
