That’s the word straight from the man in charge at Lightbox Interactive, Dylan Jobe on the prospects of a beta for the much-anticipated Starhawk that is scheduled to release later this year. This is significant not because the game will have a beta, we have known that for a while now but what we didn’t know is just how would it go down. We didn’t know if they would tie it to a voucher in another game or make it available only to PlayStation Plus members. In a comment on the Official PlayStation Blog Jobe cleared that up by saying:
Rest assured that Harvard [Bonin, senior producer Sony Santa Monica] and we at LightBox Interactive will make damn sure there is a really great public BETA for Starhawk — when the time is right ;-)
So there you have it folks, there will be a public beta for Starhawk. Now just because there will be a public beta at some point, that doesn’t mean they still wont do one or both of the things I mentioned above and have a private beta for those folks before opening it up to everyone else. The bottom line here is that you will have an opportunity to play it before it drops and decide for yourself whether or not Jobe and his band of merry men and women can deliver on the epic potential that this game has.
