If you were like me and thought that Mad Catz was just an accessory company, selling joysticks and steering wheels, think again. They have announced today that they have obtained a publishing license from Microsoft. The company’s website currently details a flight sim action title called War Wings: Hellcats, developed by Trickstar Games, with no platform listed but due for a 2012 release. Whether this game will be lined up for their first 360 release is unknown at this time, as is whether they are actively pursuing a license from Sony or even Nintendo. A simulation type game would make sense though, bearing in mind they could tie in any game launch with promotion of their own controllers. Darren Richardson, CEO of Mad Catz commented “The execution of the Xbox 360 Publisher License Agreement marks an important milestone as we pursue our longer term goal of expanding our participation in developing, publishing and distributing games.”

I'm a UK based gamer, as well as being more obsessed with video games and Doctor Who that any adult has a right to be. I keep telling myself I will grow up one day, but certainly not if I can help it.
