Multiple Game Endings: If I Beat One Of Them I Should Unlock All Of Them

This is one that has been bugging me for a while. I really love games like Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, inFAMOUS 2 and L.A. Noire they each have a really annoying design element that really aggravates me. All these games have “multiple” different game endings. Now in general I don’t have a problem with the idea of a game having more than one different ending, in fact I think it goes quite a long way in creating more diverse gaming experiences.

Heavy Rain had several different endings

By having multiple endings, it allows the developers to explore multiple aspects of a story and characters that would otherwise be impossible. Take the recent inFAMOUS 2 for instance, in this case the game actually forces you to either choose good or evil. At certain decision points throughout the game player is presented with an option to either make “good” or “bad” decision which affects their karma. Depending on your karma level at the end of the game you get a different ending. InFAMOUS 2 is a simple example of the multiple ending approach though, games like Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 end up having several different endings based on different decisions you make throughout the game. This is all good to me as I said earlier but it would be even better if I got to experience those endings. Now I know what some of you are going to say, just play through it again and make different choices. That is great for some folks who like to do that but replaying a game that takes 10+ hours to beat just isn’t in my list of fun things to do.

Since not everyone is a person that enjoys replaying a game they have already beat, I for one wish that developers would make it so that once you beat a game it allows you to unlock the closing cinematic for any and all endings the game could have possibly had. This way you at least get to know what might have happened had you done something else without either playing it over or reading about it somewhere on the web. Honestly, this is still one of the things that leaves me with a sense of dissatisfaction with even some of the best games, I wonder how different was the evil ending in inFAMOUS 2 or what if I didn’t send Legion in near the end of Mass Effect 2. It really cost the developers nothing to allow us to see any alternate cinematics, haven’t we have already invested the time into completing the game?

So is it just me or do you wish that in games with multiple endings you got to see the other ones after you beat it? Hit up the comments and let us know.
