505 Games and NaturalMotion Games have announced that the next instalment in the Backbreaker franchise is heading towards the Xbox Live Arcade and is slated for release on 29th June 2011 and PlayStation 3 users fear not as the game will also be heading to the PlayStation Network Store later in the summer. The original Backbreaker hit consoles back in 2010 and this new Backbreaker game will aim to continue the unique style of football offered with the series.
Backbreaker Vengeance is the name of the game and it is hoped that the game will combine both the AAA appeal of the original Backbreaker football game that appeared on consoles with the pick-and-play nature that was offered with the million-selling iPhone app to give gamers one very unique football experience.
Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion is extremely confident that the game will be a success, “Backbreaker Vengeance for Xbox Live Arcade takes everything we’ve learnt about truly live sports gaming and combines it with arcade gameplay for the fastest, most instantly playable football experience anywhere.” The 5 million fans worldwide that the franchise has obtained since its debut on the mobile platforms in 2009 gives the impression that he may just be right.
Backbreaker Vengance will hit the XBLA on 29th June 2011 and will find its way to the PSN Store a few weeks later.
