Continuing our cycling theme from yesterday, the news from Paris today is that Cyanide Studios, behind the PC series, Pro Cycling Manager, is bringing a game based on the Tour De France race to consoles this summer, in Europe at least.
Tour De France: The Official Game, brings all 21 stages of the event to the PS3 and 360, with some wonderful graphics showing gorgeous French scenery and less gorgeous sweaty cyclists. “It’s been a long time that we (at Cyanide) have been thinking of a cycling game especially designed for home consoles. We could not adapt to consoles what perfectly works on PC with Pro Cycling Manager, so we worked on different prototypes before achieving a satisfying result last year. Tour de France is the first important step in our quest for the ideal cycling simulation for home consoles.” Said Patrick Pligersdorffer, the CEO of Cyanide. Another interesting side to the game appears to be the ability to build alliances and rivalries with other competitors.
The game is due for launch on July 1st to coincide with the start of this year’s race so not long to wait, unless of course you are a stateside armchair athlete, in that case you may want to cycle down to your local friendly importer. Hey, I had to do it with MLB: The Show.
