Timed Exclusive Call Of Duty DLC, Will Premium PS3 And PC Call Of Duty Elite Members Still Have To Wait?

This is one that has been on my mind since Call Of Duty Elite was first announced. I’m sure most of you know that Activision has an exclusive agreement with Microsoft that guarantees that all Call Of Duty DLC comes to Xbox first. PS3 and PC gamers generally have to wait almost a month before the DLC is available for them to download. The exclusive agreement has been in place for quite some time now and was just extended. Then Activision had to go and announce Call Of Duty Elite. While there are some parts of Call Of Duty Elite that are free, there is a premium membership that is supposed to give you access to a ton more crap.

So then I got to thinking, if you are a premium Call Of Duty Elite member that is paying your hard-earned money every month, would Activision still make you wait for DLC. Since we are dealing with Activision here and they do have a contract with Microsoft I am going to say the answer is a big hell YEAH. With that being the case, I think that premium Call Of Duty Elite members on Xbox will have a significantly better experience. I mean let’s be honest, the stuff that you get with the premium Call Of Duty Elite membership is nice, but if that came with same time access as Xbox or significantly earlier than normal PS3 and PC players then I am willing to bet they would sale a lot more subscriptions.

In fact, I think that ultimately Call Of Duty Elite will be the reason that Activision does NOT renew the exclusivity agreement with Microsoft when it runs out this time. If Call Of Duty Elite gains traction, Activision would be leaving too much possible revenue on the table by continuing to penalize PS3 and PC gamers this way. Could you imagine first day sales numbers on Call Of Duty DLC if it hit all platforms at once, the numbers would be nuts and then you bundle that with the monthly subscription fee for the premium Call Of Duty Elite membership and Activision has another cash cow on their hands. What do you guys think, if you could buy Call Of Duty DLC at the same time as folks on Xbox and all you needed was to be a Call Of Duty Elite member would that make you more likely to buy it?
