Holy obligatory reference Batman! Anyone remember the prototype controller for the PS3 nicknamed the Batarang, the one shown when the console itself was unveiled waaaaaay back at E3 2005? You know, the same controller that was quickly shelved after terrible feedback in favor of the Sixaxis? Peripheral company Power A clearly does! The new controller officially labeled the Batarang is being launched on October 18th, to tie in with the release of Batman: Arkham City across the major platforms. Two separate versions of the controller are being sold at retail; a wireless version for the PS3 and a wired device for the 360 (and also presumably the PC as all wired 360 controllers work with Windows.)
The PS3 batarang wont work over Bluetooth however like the Sony controllers, instead it will rely on a ‘batman themed’ RF receiver and sounds like it will function over radio in a similar way to the Wavebird wireless controller for the Gamecube. It will include rumble and motion control though so it will be useable in all PS3 games.
If you decide to pick this one up to play Batman: Arkham City, tipped to be one of the biggest sellers this holiday period, please refrain from throwing your controller away in temper during a heated gaming session. You may find it decapitates your family pet and it won’t come back to you.
