Hold on to your Tribbles, this sounds intriguing. E3 next week will see the worldwide premier of an all new Star Trek game, due for launch next summer on PC, PS3 and 360. The game has a very impressive pedigree as well, being published by Paramount Digital Entertainment and developed by Digital Extremes, well-known for their work on the Unreal Tournament series and Bioshock 2 amongst others.
We know that the game will see players work as both Kirk and Spock in a co-op story driven adventure with a focus on combat. The storyline of the title also seems to be a strong selling point; it is an original script by the scribe of God of War 3 in collaboration with the writers of the new Star Trek film franchise. “Star Trek challenges the boundaries of co-op gameplay with a galactic adventure that gamers and fans have never experienced, this will be the definitive Star Trek gaming experience.” stated Tom Lesinski, the President of Paramount Digital Entertainment. Bearing in mind the past history of the majority of Star Trek video games, it won’t have to impress too much to manage that feat, however if the co-op side of the game works well it sounds like it has a lot of potential.
Expect to see and hear more after E3.
