Any fans of The Darkness out there? No, not the British retro glam rockers, I mean the 2007 game that is set for a sequel this year and the comic book series that inspired it. If so then you may be interested to hear that a game based on another of Top Cow Production’s titles is due for release as a digital download soon.
Top Cow is the company responsible for the comic book version of The Darkness amongst other IP’s, one of which is a title called Hunter-Killer. This series details a battle between groups of living super-weapons called Ultra-Sapiens, both rogue and government controlled. It sounds like the video game based on the comic will highlight this squad based dynamic.
The game is a collaboration between producers Union Entertainment and developer Zombie, better known for their previous digital game, Blacklight: Tango Down, which garnered some respectable scores when released last year. Matt Hawkins, the President of Top Cow stated “As an avid gamer, I really like how Zombie plans to bring Hunter-Killer to life. Bringing a great developer like Zombie and a great game design to a premier Top Cow title is exactly what we expect and get out of our ongoing alliance with Union.”
Hunter-Killer is currently looking for a publisher but should be released soon on PSN and XBOX live. We should see more of it at E3.
