For those who were unfortunate enough to not be one of the soak test members to receive the update, there may be a bit of hope for you. That is if you’re waiting on the official Android 2.3 Gingerbread (4.5.596) update for the Motorola Droid X and don’t mind being rooted. As of now the manual download and instructions are available for you. This is only for ROOTED users or those willing to take the risk of rooting their device. No one knows for sure when the update will roll out to non-rooted users over-the-air. However, many reports have it aimed at the beginning of June for the complete wrap-up of all updates.
