This isn’t the first time we have heard about Motorola’s as yet unannounced DROID 3 that seems destined to hit Verizon Wireless sometime very soon. This is however, the first time that we have gotten anything close to what can be considered solid details on the phone and its possible specs. TechnoBuffalo is reporting that the DROID 3 could launch as early as June and it will coming packing a 4 inch display with 960×540 qHD resolution. They went on to say that it will be powered by a dual-core processor (not details on what type exactly), HDMI-out, and an 8 MP camera rear camera (will feature a front facing camera as well but no details on resolution as of yet) which we would assume could support recording in HD. The keyboard will reportedly have five rows, finally bringing those dedicated number buttons that people have been clamoring for in the Droid series. Now the bad news.
All indications are that this phone will not be 4G LTE capable and for me personally that puts quite a damper on what would otherwise be a very compelling device. Instead, it will more than likely be a high quality 3G device that even at its best will still pale in comparison to a solid 4G LTE device. I suppose we can’t expect huge leaps with every new device and in the end it should still be a solid introduction to the Motorola DROID family.
