PS3 Overheating Lately? Sony And Rockstar Say Don’t Blame L.A. Noire Or Firmware Update 3.61

There have been lots of reports lately from folks saying that their PS3 has been overheating and blaming it on either L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61. Not so fast says Rockstar and Sony. The two companies issued a joint statement today saying that they have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony says that they can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided below:

I appreciate the companies getting out in front of this and while I haven’t had an issues with the update or L.A. Noire it seems to be a little to coincidental for me. I also have an issue that they can come out on a Thursday and definitively say that it’s not the update which has only been out about a week or with the game which has only been out since Tuesday. I’m not saying they aren’t right I’m just saying they seem to be jumping the gun a bit.
