Sony Has Begun Process To Restore PlayStation Network, Validating New Network Security Infrastructure
Yesterday, Sony released another update on the status of PlayStation Network. Sony said that it had begun the process of restoring the service through internal testing of the new system. They are still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm the security of the system. They went on to say that verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and must be completed before bringing the systems online.
Sony said they expected to have PSN back online last week but now say that they were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system. Again, no word on when the system may be back online so we are still waiting, stay tuned.
