Sony Rebuilding Global PSN Network, Enhancing Security, No Word On When Service Will Be Restored

zkgpsnlogoAnd so the beat goes on.  We are going into yet another day with PSN down worldwide and still not a lot of info from Sony. Just a minute ago we got the latest news from Sony about PSN and Qriocity. It seems that this latest incident was substantial enough that it has caused Sony to reevaluate the security of the entire PSN network and thus they have decided to rebuild it from scratch. Now whether they are rebuilding it because the damage was so bad they had to or they are serious about improving security we really don’t know. In either case this is yet another pretty vague status update on the situation and no word on a possible timeframe for restoring the service. Anyway, check out the official word from Patrick Seybold of Sony:

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

Well there you have it folks, PSN seems like it will be down for at least another few days. But on the bright side we want to wish everyone a Happy Easter. Ok, now you can rant :)
