We wanted to wait a day and make sure that this latest rumor regarding the iPhone 5, would turn around into better news. Sadly, all reports continue to state that the iPhone 5 will not be a part of Apple WWDC 2011 Conference. So enough with that! We’ll take it as it is, and if all rumors are wrong, we’ll love Apple even more for the surprise. Where do we focus our attention at now? Other possibilities!
So far we’ve heard rumors surrounding Apple’s Fall Event, which could also be the time we see the announcement of the iPad 3. While a deviation from the normal release time (Summer To Fall) with the iPhone 5 is very probable, it’s not for the iPad 3. Why? The iPad 2 was just launched. Additionally, Verizon & Verizon iPhone owners who just purchased their device could possibly feel a little slighted about a release that’s within six months of their purchase. However, Apple could be considering an increase on product releases with pressures from Android and other platforms.
Another rumor, which perhaps is good news for those wanting an LTE iPhone, places the change in release schedule as a result of LTE compatibility. AT&T has stated that they will have a 4G LTE iPhone next year, and will launch there LTE network this year. Verizon Wireless is already using its’ LTE network, and CEO Dan Mead has already stated that we should “see more coming from Apple on LTE. They understand the value proposition of LTE and I feel very confident that they are going to be a part of it.” Additionally, China Mobile’s Chairman stated that, “Steve Jobs has expressed his interest in an LTE iPhone and is willing to start the development at an early date”. Pushing the date out should rid Apple of design compromises, which Apple’s COO Tim Cook, did not want to make.
Other possibilities include a release next year around the same time we saw the launch of the Verizon iPhone. This would place both carriers on the same schedule. Also, Apple could just wait until next year at WWDC 2012 to announce the iPhone 5, and maybe even the iPad 3. This year software, next year hardware. What do you think? Are you in the least bit disappointed by this possibility? Do you prefer one possibility over the other? Let us know!
