EA Sports just released the the first bit of info about what we can expect in NCAA Football 12. The focus of this first info is all about the tons of visual upgrades that the team has made. Last year it was all about linear lighting, but this year its all about High Dynamic Range Rendering or HDR. In layman’s terms HDR is a way of rendering bright and dark parts of the game while still maintaining a high level of detail. It allows them to preserve contrast without losing the detail that make the game look realistic (you can check this out in the screenshot below). Another complaint from previous games was playing games in shadows, this often time made the gameplay appear dark and muddy which you all know put a damper on the gameplay experience. We loved the shadow effects to really bring home time of day but we didn’t like what it did to the look of the game so glad to see them fixing this one.
HDR isn’t all though, they have added higher resolution crowds, new gear, dreadlocks are back baby and they also added 3D grass which looks freaking awesome. In past games the field has been flat and even though they made it change with the weather it really had no body to it, 3D grass changes this. Alright folks, this is just the first set of info and we will be giving you more info as it becomes available, but from what they have show so far what do you think?
