Verizon iPhone Refresh Likely Coming In Q3, Usage-Based Pricing To Replace Unlimited Data Plans Around The Same Time

iphoneverizonToday a Verizon exec seemed to hint that a new version of the iPhone (a.ka. iPhone 5) could be on the way to the carrier this summer. That was more of an implied thought, what the executive was more direct about was the fact that Verizon Wireless will be replacing its unlimited data plans with usage-based pricing sometime around the middle of summer. Normally, Apple likes to launch their new iPhones around that time so this seems to fall in line with that(if this happens it will piss a lot of Verizon iPhone 4 owners off we are sure).

As happy as I am that Verizon has finally gotten the iPhone I can’t say that I am happy about Apple’s influence on Verizon’s pricing options. First it was the phasing out of Verizon’s very popular “new ever two program” and now this among other things. Apple’s main goal is to maximize revenue and all the actions that Verizon Wireless has taken lately would seem to be spurred by insistence from Apple. What do you think about this, do you have an unlimited plan, if so what will you do when Verizon phases them out?
