Sony’s PSP Gets Deep Price Drop, Will Be $129.99 Starting Feb. 27
SCEA has announced that the PSP will be available for $129.99 starting February 27, 2011. In addition to the new price point, 13 new games will be added to the PSP “Greatest Hits” and $9.99 “Favorites” software collections, further delivering upon the PSP system’s incredible entertainment value. The timing on this one is very interesting as it seems to signal that we could be closer to an NGP release than many of us perhaps thought. Normally, you see these price drops by companies as a way to clear out volume of last generation products to make way for their new products, in this case the NGP. Could we be looking at a GDC or E3 reveal, probably.
As part of the PSP system’s extensive software catalogue are its “Greatest Hits” and “Favorites” collections. Available for $19.99, Greatest Hits titles have surpassed an impressive sales threshold and represent the highest caliber of quality software available on the PSP system. Favorites titles, valued at $9.99, offer some of the PSP system’s most popular games at an incredible price. New PSP Favorites titles include CRISIS CORE-FINAL FANTASY VII, Daxter, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fire Team Bravo, and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
