It looks like Mass Effect 2 has some DLC on the way folks. Now we know that BioWare has said that it really wasn’t going to be the case but it looks like a recently released patch has spilled the beans. The latest patch for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 gives some rough details of an upcoming DLC pack titled “Arrival”. Who’s arrival, we can only guess that of the Reapers as this may be some kind of content to further bridge the events between Mass Effect 2 and the upcoming Mass Effect 3.
To go along with the latest patch are three new trophies which seem to tie into this new content. One of the new trophies called “Covert Action” has the description: “Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention”. This is the part where it mentions that its tied to the Arrival DLC. Dr. Kenson is a new character that was recently mentioned in a Cerebus Network update which you can read the contents of below:
“Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus. Her team claims that by testing the dust trapped in the gravity wells around a mass relay, and comparing its composition to that of dust clouds in the same system, scientists can create a timeline of when the relay passed through the dust. Her conclusion?
“Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years,” she writes, “The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans.” Dr. Aurana T’Meles of the University of Serrice met the information with skepticism: “While Dr. Kenson’s methods appear sound, the asari tried a similar procedure centuries ago and discounted it. What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?”
The new DLC pack also appears set to feature two other trophies called “Last Stand” and “The Ultimate Sacrifice”. It’s Mass Effect so we should have known that none of those would be easy. “The Ultimate Sacrifice” has folks particularly intrigued since they are wondering what in the world it could be, I mean Shepard has already died once and would the folks from BioWare really make us sacrifice one of our team members? Anyway, that’s it and check back here soon as we expect official word from BioWare anytime now.
