Don’t Forget To Cancel Your DC Universe Online Subscription When Your Done, Remember Only The First Month Was Free

dc-universe-online-box-art1This is one that sounds obvious, but is something that can easily be forgotten and something that I found out the hard way. PC gamers are keenly aware of this but for PS3 gamers like myself it is easy to forget.  Normally when you stop playing a game you are done with it, but subscription based titles aren’t like that. This morning I awoke to an email alert notifying me that funds had been added to my PSN wallet and a purchase had been made. I was shocked and thought that perhaps my PSN account had been compromised. I opened the email to see what had been purchased and it was in fact the renewal of the DCUO subscription fee.

What many of you may or may not know is that while DCUO comes with a free one-month subscription, they still subscribe you automatically. If you are like me and played the game but ultimately didn’t love it enough want to pay them $14.99 a month, then please make sure you follow the directions below to cancel your subscription. If you don’t they will just charge you until you do regardless to whether you play the game anymore. I would have said even if you don’t have the game, but of course you still have the game because Gamestop won’t take it because nobody else can use it but that is another story. Anyway, I just wanted to send out a warning to all the folks who bought DCUO, played it but didn’t really stick with it or aren’t planning to stick with it. You need to actually go in and cancel your subscription or you will end up like me and wake up to a notice that your PSN wallet has been debited and since its on you to cancel the subscription your just out of $15. The directions for unsubscribing are below, learn from my mistake so it doesn’t cost you money too.
