Batman: Arkham City will not have a multiplayer or co-op mode and I have to be honest I feel like that is exactly the way it should be. I know that folks love multiplayer and everything, but you gotta understand that the Dark Knight is a lone wolf. With that said I am sure that Rocksteady will deliver an experience that is even better than the last one. A good multiplayer mode is always appreciated but you have to appreciate when a developer’s team can focus completely on one all encompassing single player experience.
In an interview with IGN, Sefton Hill, RockSteady Studio Director, finally put all the rumors to rest. “There have been a number of rumors circulating about a multiplayer mode in Batman: Arkham City so let me start by saying, once and for all, that Batman: Arkham City is a ‘single-player only’ experience,” he told IGN. According to him their logic on whether to include a multiplayer into the hotly anticipated followup was quite simple, would it make Arkham City a better overall game. Guess we know the answer to that. He went on to say that they could not have delivered Batman: Arkham City in its current format if they had been distracted by working on a multiplayer. I commend Rocksteady for sticking to their guns and not delivering some half ass attempt at multiplayer just to say they had it. Batman: Arkham City is going to be one of the game’s best of year with or without multiplayer.
