Mass Effect 2 On PS3 Suffering From Save Bug, Bioware Working On A Fix

MassEffect2ps3coverWell folks, you knew that something had to happen. You knew that Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 couldn’t just launch to no controversy. Bioware has confirmed that they are aware of a bug in the game that is corrupting save files and not allowing players to continue playing after they had saved. For those of you that aren’t familiar, Mass Effect 2 is epic and expansive and not the kind of game that you want to play over just for the hell of it. Even if you played straight through it would probably take the average player 30-40 hours and for the rest of us that like to do all the other stuff, a player could easily sink over 70+ hours into a game like this.

At this point, Bioware is asking its fans to help them try to get to the root of the problem by popping over to their forums and if you have experienced the problem describing it for them. They want people to be very specific about when and how it happened, how long had you been playing, what were you playing, etc. If this hasn’t happened to you and you don’t want to take any chances, we have confirmation that copying off your save file(s) to a USB will allow you to pick up where you left off even if your file on the PS3 itself later becomes corrupted. This is frustrating for players, but more than likely something that will equate to a minor patch to fix.

For those folks that this has already happened to well, damn that sucks. Does this make you feel differently about the game? Are you satisfied with Bioware’s response?
