Mass Effect 2 PS3 Goes Gold, Will Be Powered By Mass Effect 3 Game Engine

The folks over at Bioware have announced that Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 has officially gone gold. For those of you not familiar with gaming industry lingo, when a title “goes gold” that means that the developer has finished working on the game and its ready to be sent out to the manufacturer to be pressed and then shipped. This is good news since it means that the game is right on target for its January 18, 2011 release for PS3.

As if that was awesome enough to hear, we then got word that that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 would actually be running on the engine that will power Mass Effect 3. This almost assures that the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 will play better than the original 360 version and I mean how could it not running on a new game engine and better hardware. All we can say is that we can’t wait for January 18th, who else is picking this up on day one?
