With sales breaking the 1.5 million mark between the United States and UK within ten days, the Kinect has been something of a hot commodity. Hoping to make it just as big in Japan, Microsoft was horribly let down in its opening weekend, selling only 26,000 units form start to finish – this including the standalone and 360 bundles.
To add insult upon injury, none of the Kinect games made it to the top 20 in the Japan’s game list at launch. Selling only 6,000 copies within the 2-day spree, DanceMasters was the highest one on the charts… while four Move titles combined hit 50,000.
Although Japan hasn’t really had much love for the Washington-based company, and the numbers are a shining example. Perhaps the titles aren’t in their favor, or it’s simply a wall for business this weekend. Regardless, Microsoft is going to have to up the stakes if they want to get anything out of Japan
