It is easy to forget that Hulu is only 3 years old. But even at such a young age, it is already the second largest Web video service right behind Google’s YouTube in the U.S. As of today, all 25 of the top U.S. advertisers run spots on Hulu.
While speaking at an event in San Francisco Hulu’s CEO Jason Kilar said that Hulu had delivered videos to more than 30 million viewers THIS month. While Hulu is the second largest video service right now, it has begun to face stiff competition from Google, Apple and Amazon as of late. As he continued to talk he noted that Hulu was projecting revenue to more than double to somewhere in the $240 million dollar range.
There have been reports that Hulu is considering an effort to raise upwards of $300 million dollars in an IPO that would help it fund efforts to continue its expansion and pay for even more content deals. To this point though Hulu and its owners have declined to comment on a possible IPO.
Last year, Hulu posted revenue of $108 million, so this year’s projected $240 million would represent a jump of nearly 125 percent year over year.
