According to a report by Gamespot, executives from Activision Blizzard have confirmed during a conference call after announcing better than expected earnings that 2011 will indeed see another Call Of Duty in the second half of 2011.
They didn’t give a whole lot of detail except to say that COD will be seeing a new FPS installment next year. They seem to have made a point of emphasizing that the title will be an FPS. “We will launch a new first-person action title during the back half of 2011,” Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said. If that’s true then we know that its not the rumored non-FPS that Activision’s other studio Sledgehammer is rumored to be working on.
This makes everything a lot more interesting though. The game is more than likely Modern Warfare 3 which we know was in development by Infinity Ward as late as May of this year. Even with the exit of its founders and several key members, Activision said around the same time that the team is continuing to work on its next big project. Even if the new game is Modern Warfare 3, with all the talent that Infinity Ward has lost how good is it going to be? Guess we have a year to ponder that, what do you think? Should there be more time between COD titles?
