EA Officially Cancels NBA Elite 11, Moves Development To EA Tiburon

Well folks we can’t say that we are surprise on this one, after EA announced they were delaying NBA Elite 11 most of us believed it would only be a matter of time before they announced that they had canceled it outright. According to a report by Gamespot, during their post-earnings conference call today they announced that they have canceled NBA Elite 11 altogether. They gave no further explanation but did say that future development of the franchise would be handled by EA Tiburon, the same studio that develops Madden.

With EA not really giving any real detail as to the real reasons why NBA Elite 11 was really canceled, this may go down as one of the strangest stories in gaming history. NBA Elite 11 stood to be a huge bit of revenue and some analyst are reporting that this decision could cost EA up to 60 million dollars. The absence of NBA Elite opens up a huge window for 2K Sports and NBA 2K11 to pick up a whole new set of fans. For EA to risk that happening, there had to be some serious flaws with NBA Elite 11, such big issues that it was worth the loss in revenue and the possible loss in customers. What do you guys think could have been so bad that EA scrapped the whole game?
