Rogers Communications and Samsung Mobile just announced that the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate smartphone is available to Canadians exclusively through Rogers. Designed to enhance the customers’ visual experience, the Android 2.1 powered device brings mobile communication to the next level with its stunning 4-inch Super AMOLED display, and a super fast 1GHz processor. The device also features 16GB internal memory and expandable memory by 32GB microSDcard, a 5.0 megapixel camera/camcorder with auto-focus and HD video recording, MP3 player, 3.5 millimetre headphone jack. One of the most awesome features is that the Captivate also comes with Swype technology, trust us once you type and text using Swype you will never be able to go back to pecking again.
Perfect for gamers, the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate features a six-axis sensor that combines the smartphone’s accelerometer and gyroscope to provide a smooth, fluid gaming experience when the user is tilting the device up or down or panning the phone to the left or right. The Samsung Galaxy S Captivate smartphone’s user interface also supports a series of advanced touchscreen gesture capabilities including multi-touch pinch, long tap and zoom and vertical and horizontal swiping.
The biggest downside to the Captivate at this point is that it doesn’t come with Android 2.2 and with the way that Samsung puts out updates it might be a while. The Samsung Galaxy S Captivate is available starting today exclusively through Rogers retailers and www.rogers.com for $179.99 with new activation on select 3-year term voice and data plans.
