Is Android Fragmentation Really “Daunting” …, Apple’s Steve Jobs Thinks So

Share And Comment

On yesterday, Steve Jobs blasted Android for its’ supposed fragmentation across the Android OS and OEMs. Here’s what he “Twitter client, TwitterDeck [TweetDeck] recently launched their app for Android. They reported that they had to contend with more than a hundred different versions of Android software on 244 different handsets. The multiple hardware and software iterations present developers with a daunting challenge”.

But not so fast Mr. Jobs! TweetDeck’s CEO, Iain Dodsworth, replied on his Twitter account with the following, “Did we at any point say it was a nightmare developing on Android? Errr nope, no we didn’t. It wasn’t” Dodsworth goes on later to say that “We only have 2 guys developing on Android TweetDeck so that shows how small an issue fragmentation is”.

So developers, how do you feel about fragmentation within Android? For what it’s worth, how do Android users feel? Is this really a big issue? Hit up our comments and let us know!
