At an event early this week when Microsoft didn’t announce any specific support for Macs in Windows Phone 7, most of us thought that was just status quo and there would be no way to easily load content from Apple’s flagship personal computers onto devices with the new operating system. Now it seems that perhaps those assumptions were a little premature. Once again, Twitter strikes when a UK Microsoft employee tweeted about some sort of Mac connection, though the details were not entirely accurate. (That tweet has since been deleted).
Shortly after that, around midnight EST, Microsoft officially announced that later this year there would be a public beta for a tool that allows Windows Phone 7 to sync “select” content with Mac computers. While Microsoft Zune will remain the primary means of connecting with and updating a Windows 7 device, this does at least allow for some alternatives.
