One of the biggest surprises to come out of the Call of Duty camp came out today, in the form of a simple pair of glasses. With Treyarch’s latest stereoscopic 3D technology, players are going to get the chance to experience Black Ops in one of the most realistic and immersive ways possible. Starting out as a R&D test, the game went from makeshift 3D reality.

“Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains…are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops,” says Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. While this has come out as more of a surprise, companies like Best Buy will be reaping the benefits all the way to the bank.

Since Black Ops is already one of the most anticipated games of the year, the prospect of adding 3D to that is boggling. Does this mean that people will need to go out and get a sparking new television? Maybe. If it does, then that means Best Buy will be coming out on top, with over 1100 unique locations, Best Buy has partnerend up with Activision to bring select deals to both purchasing the upcoming game and/or television. And who said that planning ahead was a bad thing?
