If you believe the Wall Street Journal and we normally do, then Microsoft’s much awaited handset will be available just in time for the holidays. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft will formally unveil the first lineup of smartphones to run its new mobile OS on Oct. 11, and AT&T will begin offering them four weeks later.
Microsoft will receive the marketing support of AT&T (in the same way that Google got from Verizon), which will be the initial exclusive U.S. carrier to sell the Windows Phone 7 smartphones. AT&T plans to sell the devices the week of Nov. 8. To start, Samsung , LG and HTC will each have a device running the new OS.
