Samsung Galaxy Tab Event, September 16th: What We Know

Share And Comment

Everyone is anticipating Samsung rumored event tomorrow! Samsung, Apple, Acer, Asus, Motorola, HTC, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, iPad owners, future tablet owners, you, me, well you get the point. Everyone wants to see if Samsung has a device that can compete with and overtake Apple iPad’s market position. Specs say one thing, but you never really know until consumers have the device in hand. To be honest the iPad has lived up to its’ expectation. Even though we can dig up problems about the iPad, it’s a solid device. But enough of that, let’s talk Samsung Galaxy Tab. What do we know?

We know that the device will be on multiple carriers. Verizon Wireless will more than likely announce its’ availability tomorrow. AT&T and Sprint are sure to follow. And as far as T-Mobile, it’s highly likely that a deal is in the works.

As far as pricing, we’re expecting a price range between, $200 and $300. This is assuming that the carriers will offer some type of subsidy. Hopefully, we won’t be forced into an outrageous data plan. Even more so, hopefully we have the option for a prepaid plan.

The specs are known in and out for this device. The one thing that has my attention is the inclusion of Android 2.2. Not saying that it’s a bad thing, but Hugo Barra, Google’s, Director of Products for Mobile, stated, “If you’re thinking of running Android 2.2 app or the OS itself on a tablet, it wouldn’t work that way. For starters, think of small issues like screen cropping and accelerometer compatibility. The Android OS 2.2 is just not the perfect match for tablets yet.” Scary stuff? Whether that is an implication of an error on Samsung part, we don’t know! But I’m sure Samsung has spent a lot of time optimizing and developing for the tablet. For a complete listing of specs on the Galaxy Tab, check out the information below the gallery.

So what do you think? Will you be glued to ZKG, awaiting information as Samsung delivers it? If you can preorder or purchase tomorrow, will you? Or will you just wait until it’s released? Hit us up and let us know. While you’re at it, check out the gallery!
