According to several reports, HP will reportedly buy security software company ArcSight for $1.5 billion. The ink isn’t even dry on the 3PAR deal yet, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping HP from going full steam ahead.
According to the WSJ, HP will pay a premium for ArcSight though nowhere near the outrageous price they paid for 3PAR. This deal makes sense for HP because even though they are solid in a lot of areas, they are kind of behind when it comes to the security arena and this is definitely a solid acquisition in that respect.
ArcSight’s software is used on lots of corporate networks and the company has an array of products ranging from compliance dashboards to cyberthreat detection to monitoring. The company also appears to have a solid balance sheet so this may actually add to HP’s bottom line this year.
