Has The PS3 Finally Been Jailbroken?

Share And Comment

Well, if you believe the claims of the folks who run PS Jailbreak, it is. They claim to have created a USB modchip for the PS3 that will allow you to drop games onto almost any available storage device. This includes the console’s internal HDD, as well as your own external storage drives.  You will also, purportedly, be able to play the aforementioned games without the need for the original disc.  As you all know, hackers have been trying to crack the PS3 since its original release and nothing really concrete has ever emerged – at least not the way the PS2 was cracked open and owned.

Is this the … umm … “backup” solution that lots of PS3 owners and would-be owners have been waiting for? At this point, it’s hard to tell. The PSX-Scene team that originally reported on this cool device say, they have actually seen it doing its’ thing, and they have a video that apparently shows it in action as well.  We would advise you to not get too excited about this yet, but if it is true, this could really change gaming when it comes to PS3 as we know it. Anyway, hop on over to YouTube and check out the video and let us know what you think about it?
