Crysis 2 Unveils Multiplayer, Special Edition Sets

Over in Germany, things are getting feisty at Gamescom, with EA dropping details on some of their biggest games coming up this season, including some interesting tidbits from Crysis 2. With an unveiling of two new multiplayer modes – Crash Site and Team Instant Action – and some fancy special edition sets available for purchase, EA is saying everything in the right way.

While Team Instant Action is a fairly straightforward version team-based slayer, Crash Site is something more of a sporadic, team King of the Hill. Pitting two teams against each other, they compete for crashlanding drop pods, keeping them until they are under your control and then doing it all over again. It’s an interesting concept, especially when the drop-pods reap rewards such as weapons and upgrades.

Of course, if you want the edge in your gameplay, then you may want to get the jump on your purchase. for as long as supplies last, you can now pre-order the Limited Edition and Nano Editions of the game. While the Limited Edition won’t cost you anything extra, it will bring you a heap of extra goodies come playtime:

  • Bonus XP – Players will jump into multiplayer battles with an edge by starting with enough experience points to gain early access to all 5 preset class load-outs.
  • SCAR Hologram Decoy – This special attachment to the SCAR will project a hologram image of the player, allowing them to confuse their opponents with the decoy.
  • SCAR Weapon Skin – This digital camouflage skin will allow players to add a personalized touch to one of the more popular assault rifles in the game.
  • Platinum Dog Tag – This special one-of-a-kind dog tag is one of over 250 that will be collectible in Crysis 2 multiplayer, helping to separate you from the rest of the field.

Yet the Nano Edition isn’t getting shafted either. If you have the $150.00 to dish out, you get everything in the Limited Edition enchased in a steel case, art book, a statue of the hero “Prophet” on top of a taxi (that’s 11″ tall), all encased in a backpack modeled after the nanosuit itself. Not a bad break really, especially if you just want to say you have it.
