After initial indications that the 160GB PS3 would only be hitting shelves in Japan, both Gamestop (since removed) and NewEgg (ETA 8-19-10) are now showing listings for the product with a price tag of $299.99. The original Gamestop listing had the product being available today, which obviously won’t be the case, but Newegg’s ETA of the 19th makes sense, since Sony will be holding their press conference at Gamescom 2010 tomorrow. This would mean that the new PS3 would go on sale here the next day, which pretty much follows Sony’s M.O. on announcements like this. Now speculation is buzzing all over the net right now on whether baby will come with a new look – perhaps that white we have all come to know and love. Perhaps they will go completely out of the box, with a color we haven’t seen yet. Guess we will have to wait and see what happens at Sony’s press conference tomorrow, but whatever it is believe we will have all the details right here for you.
This isn’t huge to me personally. I mean it only takes a second to swap out a PS3 hard drive. Furthermore, it’s actually much cheaper to do it yourself. And with all the YouTube videos with detailed walkthroughs anyone could probably do it in less than thirty minutes. But that’s just me, what do you think about this possible new PS3 coming to the States? What would you like Sony to announce at Gamescom tomorrow, post it in the comments.
