To get your name on the lips of your players, you need to have a basis in the world of the online market. It’s no small secret now that the idea of multiplayer and online communities rule the spectrum of supply and demand: just look at Activision’s latest Starcraft II, selling over 1.5 million copies within 48 hours (making the largest selling strategy game in history). So with Virgin Gaming, the fastest growing tournament community, announced that they were teaming up with Ubisoft to take their companies to the next level… well, that makes everyone happy.
Kicking off the partnership, Virgin Games is looking at setting up their first of several tournaments with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Solider, guaranteeing over $1 million in prizes over the year. Considering that Giant sack of money in the picture, Sir Richard Branson has money to throw around. The two companies will be able to combine efforts to both guarantee players get the most out of competitive play, and the best out of the gaming world. As long as they get a briefcase of money… I see no reason why.
