If you ever felt compelled to team up with your best 4-man squad to go against relentless AI in the Atacama Desert: now you can. Today, community manager for DICE, Daniel Matros dropped some information on the latest update and gameplay mode for Bad Company 2: Onslaught. “Onslaught is co-op in the sense that you get to play with a squad of up to four soldiers against endless waves of A.I. enemies.” If you’re familiar with games like Gears of War II, or Halo: ODST’s Firefight, then the idea isn’t uncommon. Essentially, you set yourself up with a squad between two-to-four players and go against a barrage of AI.
That is until you get ahold of the AI’s flag. That is the difference between other variants in which this is slightly more goal orientated. Once the flag is captured, it’s full steam forward back to your base to complete the mission. The map you’ll be playing at is Atacama Desert, picked for specifically for it’s limited visibility via sandstorms and vehicle-heavy layout. Perfect for separating the men from the boys.
Allowing players to choose between different levels of difficulty, it will give the ultimate chance of braging rights for both speed and team unity for finishing the map. Matros himself has already thrown the gauntlet: “Two of the guys in our squad today finished up on Atacama in just seven minutes. See if you can beat that.” Beat that indeed.
