In a direct retaliation against Netflix, Hulu is bringing an advanced service to compatible Blu-ray players and TV’s, consoles and Apple products, for $9.99 a month.
Yet CEO of Hulu, Jason Killar was firm in saying that this was not a replacement of the current program. “Hulu Plus is a new, revolutionary ad-supported subscription product that is incremental and complementary to the existing Hulu service.” Allowing Ad-free showing of high-definition shows and movies, you will be able to watch a complete season from start to finish, rather than a few episodes that you do now.
When Hulu Plus will come online will be different for each area. It will first launch on the PlayStation 3 within the next couple of weeks, while for the Xbox 360 sometime “in 2011.” The compatible televisions and Blu-ray players will be available near the end of this year, while no word yet on the Apple line of products.
For a complete list of available shows currently and to even sign up for a test account, you can head over to Hulu’s website right now, and take a look.
