When the original inFamous was released in May last year I was hoping for something special. What I got was something incredible. I loved every second of it, even played it a second time through after the first playthrough and I rarely ever do that. I wasn’t sure they could pull off a superhero with only electrical powers, it seemed a bit limited for a videogame, but Sucker Punch had the creativity to pull it off in style. For the sequel Cole MacGrath makes another electrifying return but this time round he has more of a cool touch. Well ice to be more specific. Infamous 2 takes everything to a whole new level. You have to see it to believe it, it looks amazing. Better yet this time there will be no Prototype to take away the attention this game so rightly deserves.
With Infamous 2 there is a huge graphical improvement, the design has had a complete overhaul and Cole is looking better than ever. Although the details from Sony aren’t specific on the new superpowers Cole will wield, the trailer quite clearly shows that ice powers will be a definite feature. As with the original, the sequel is once again set in an open-world environment, moving away from Empire City to a brand new fictional setting and the focus is still on the powerful and emotional journey of the true superhero experience, only more so. Both Cole’s past and his future will plague him, and once again it is up to Cole alone to save or abandon humanity. Currently Infamous 2 has no specific release date but will be hitting the stores sometime next year.
Infamous 2 opens in Empire City as a massive explosion rips through it signaling the birth of the dark entity known as ‘The Beast’, an enemy from his own future that he must eventually face in a civilization ending confrontation. Narrowly escaping this new evil with his life Cole flees to the historic Southern city of New Marais. Blamed for the destruction of Empire City and aware that this new threat is carving a destructive path down the coast towards him, Cole makes an effort to discover his full super-powered potential and seeks out a scientist who is believed to hold the key to defeating this new enemy. Once again only Cole has the power to save mankind. But will he choose to do so?
