So if you are a PS3 owner and you have friends that own Xb0x’s then you are going to love rubbing this in their face. After being forced to always get new DLC and demos just a little later than our Microsoft brethren, Sony has finally said enough is enough. According to SCEE’s Mike Kebby, PlayStation Store Team, starting sometime in May PSN’s update day will move to Tuesdays of every week instead of Thursday, take that Microsoft. It’s actually rather funny since even though Xbox updates on Wednesday, Tuesday is usually the day that Microsoft usually puts out OS updates, a coincidence that only a computer geek like me would notice I am sure.
It appears that it won’t be the same everywhere though, with North America getting updates on Tuesday (two days earlier than before) and Europe receiving them on Wednesdays, still a full day earlier than before and the same day as Xbox.
This puts the ball squarely in Microsoft’s court now though, their only option put them out on Monday, that would be crazy wouldn’t it. Or perhaps they will just put theirs out a few hours earlier than what Sony decides, either way as a PS3 owner I am happy about this one. The only downside is that Microsoft still has the more efficient and robust approval process and it probably means that even though PS3 owners will get whatever content they get first, Xbox owners will probably still continue to get more of the content first as it just takes Sony so long to approve any kind of DLC. What do you think?
