The first official expansion pack for the Dragon Age: Origins, the best RPG of 2009, is now available in North America and Europe an announcement from BioWare has said and gamers can pick up the expansion pack on three different formats. Gamers can get the DLC from retailers and Xbox 360 along with PlayStation 3 users have the option of download the ‘Awakening’ from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network respectively.

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening is the first bit of DLC for the main game

Aaryn Flynn, the Studio General Manager of BioWare in Edmonton said the new DLC “brings players deeper into the folds to face even more complex moral decisions as the leader of the Grey Wardens and the results of those responsibilities and actions”. As mentioned in a previous article on ZoKnowsGaming, the ‘Awakening’ sees players assume the role of a Grey Warden Commander entrusted with rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and uncovering the mystery of how the darkspawn survive after the slaying of the Archdemon.

A bonus for players sees them have the ability to import their character from the main Dragon Age: Origins game or if they so wish, they can start an entirely new character (a Grey Warden from the neighbouring land of Orlais) with whom to have an adventure. Players will face a range of horrific and terrifying creatures in the new adventure including an evolved, intelligent breed of darkspawn and other malevolent creatures with a prime examples being the Inferno Golem and a spectral dragon.

The original was liked by both critics and gamers alike upon its release in 2009

The various actions that players do throughout the game will impact on the game so the adventure will be different to every person that plays it. Dragon Age Origins won over 30 “Best of 2009” awards, was named “RPG of the Year” by Game Informer, G4, SpikeTV, and PC Gamer, and was hailed by Seth Schiesel of The New York Times as, “…perhaps the best electronic game made yet”.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
