On February 3rd EA Sports used the award winning football simulation Madden NFL 10 to ‘predict’ the outcome of this Sunday’s showpiece football event, Super Bowl XLIV, with a surprising result and an upset on the cards. The New Orleans Saints managed to defy everyone and ran out 35-31 winners over the Indianapolis Colts in the EA Sports simulation.
The first three quarters showed off the offensive prowess that both of the two teams posses and have become known for with the Colts having a slight lead of 4 points over the Saints with the score at 24-21. The 4th and final quarter began with the Saints utilizing one of their special teams with lethal execution that allowed Reggie Bush to return a punt for a 42 yard touchdown.
With mere minutes remaining the duo of Joseph Addai and Peyton Manning put the Colts back in the lead with a go-ahead touchdown pass that looked to have ended the Saints bid for Super Bowl. All was not lost however as Drew Brees hits David Thomas for an 11-yard touchdown which proves to be the game winning score for the Saints. Drew Brees took the MVP award as the Saints brought home their first Super Bowl title in the 46 year history of the franchise.
EA Sports utilized each team’s current roster and the latest player statistics to ensure a fair contest and last year EA Sports accurately predicted the winner (along with the correct score) so fans of the New Orleans Saints fans can take heart in the fact that their team might just do it. Super Bowl XLIV kicks off Sunday, February 7 in South Florida and will be watched by huge audiences worldwide.
