It has been announced by THQ Inc. that the fighting game UFC 2009 Undisputed that is based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) which is a form of mixed martial arts has reached the “Platinum Hits” milestone on the PlayStation 3 system. The game was launched on May 19th 2009 and has currently shipped over 3.5 million copies with the game now retailing for the suggested price of $29.99.

The game was a critical as well as a commercial success with the game achieving a score of 83 on Metacritic and 83.48% on GameRankings. The president of UFC, Dana White said that “We are excited that so many fans around the world have helped us achieve these impressive milestones in our debut year”. He also declared that “UFC 2009 Undisputed opened the door for us to further share the UFC brand with videogame and fight fans around the world, and we cannot wait to return this spring with the release of UFC Undisputed 2010 on May 25, 2010”.
